Frequently Asked Questions

Making a connection with my clients is my number one goal. In order to better communicate with my clients I’ve compiled this list of questions that let you know what to expect during our session. I’ve found that these questions cover most of concerns my clients have had in the past. Covering these questions in advance gives us more time to focus on making memorable images during the session. If you have a question not listed here just shoot an email to christian(at)christiangideonphotography(dot)com and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

Frequently Asked Questions Christian Gideon Photography

What kind of lighting do you use? I am a huge natural light guy. This is how I see the world and I want my images to reflect that. Only when absolutely necessarily do I use artificial lighting.

Do we get the images on a disc? All of my sessions/weddings receive a disc with their images. These are your images to share with the world.

Do you edit all of the images on the disc? Yes. I do custom editing on all of my images.

What should we wear? I want your session to be a carefree and fun as possible. Don’t be afraid to dress up or try something new. If you want more advice shoot me an email-I’d be happy to help.

Do you travel for weddings? Absolutely. Living in Midwest has it’s advantages. The low cost of living allows me to put together travel packages for clients that are a great value. In 2011 I have shot or will shoot in Kansas City, MO, St. Augustine, Fl, Cape Cod, MA, Dallas, TX. 2012 has Philadephia, PA on the horizon with more locations in the works.

Do you shoot smaller wedding ceremonies? Definitely. I understand that smaller, intimate weddings are more fitting for some couples. If you’re interested in having me document your ceremony big or small just shoot me an email.

How long does it take to get my wedding or portrait session images back? Weddings 4-6 weeks. Portrait Sessions 2-3 weeks.

What locations do you shoot at? This is big. I’m always looking for new, exciting locations to shoot at. I won’t lie though-the best locations come from collaborating with clients to find unique spots.

Do you bring back up? Yep. I bring professional Canon gear to all sessions/weddings (see more on gear used below).

What gear do you use? I use Canon camera bodies, flashes, and lenses. I use the Canon 5d Mark II camera. Canon 580ex and 430ex flash units. I use only prime lenses. My favorites are the 35L 1.4 and the 24mm 1.4L by Canon.

How many images do we get? Portrait sessions generally 30-40. 8 hour wedding with one photographer- approx 500. I firmly believe in quality over quantity. The best images make the best memories.

What types of albums are available? I order all albums from Black River Imaging . For more details shoot me an email.

What type of payments do you accept? Cash, check, Paypal or credit card. Credit card and Paypal payments are subject to a 3 percent charge.

How do I reserve my wedding date? A 40% non-refundable deposit (of overall package) books your date in stone.

When should we start and stop the photos? For portrait sessions 2-3 hours before sundown is the best lighting but other arrangements can always be made.

How long have you been shooting? I shot my first wedding on 8/8/2010 and haven’t looked back since : )

What’s the best way to meet before we work with you? If you’re local I’d love to sit down and have some coffee with you. If you’re not-I love Skype. It’s a great way to finalize details and get to know each other before working together.

Why do you do all day wedding packages? I feel that the best moments on a wedding day are spontaneous. They don’t always happen according to schedule. That’s why I’ll be there when you need me. No worrying about hours and adding additional time.
